This was the first time I ever met these two in person, and I had a blast doing their engagement session! Devon and Matt met at the University of North Dakota, and I am so excited to be photographing their wedding next year in Lundar, Manitoba. Devon has the most amazing smile, and I was thrilled to see her wearing that adorable little dress! Both hockey players (Matt plays in the NHL and Devon for UND), they are in ridiculously good shape! It was fun driving around to some different grungy locations to contrast with their country style wedding, but we almost got a hefty ticket for “tresspassing” lol! Methinks Devon and Matt worked their charm and good looks for that one, I just stood back and played dumb haha :):)
Here are a few of my faves :)
You guys are great sports :) Can’t wait for the wedding!
On this fabulously warm and very windy day, we took a drive to the park for some amazing shots of Sheena and Tom for their engagement session. I brought some flowers to bring out their wedding colours (charcoal grey with yellow accents) and a few old chairs to make things a bit more fun! These two are awesome in front of the camera, see for yourself below! So excited for your wedding next summer guys!
All the wind in Sheena’s hair shows off her beautiful features! Yay wind!
Mandy & Billy’s wedding was like a beautiful dream! These two are former Winnipeggers who now live in Toronto, so as you can imagine it must have been a little difficult planning a wedding so far from home! With an elegant vintage flair, white and ivory with touches of gold and pink, and tons of love (Mandy made a lot of things herself – including her hairpiece, pink crinoline, the centerpieces, invites, menus, favours, flowers, and more!) it was a truly gorgeous and perfect day. Even the weather was amazing, warm and sunny :) I had a great time hanging out with the ladies in the morning at Berns & Black, and back at the Fort Garry Hotel to get ready. The traditional Greek ceremony was beautiful, and there were many out of town guests that came to celebrate! And I was thrilled to have so much time for pictures before the reception, more time equals more variety and locations! I am so lucky and very grateful for the day that I got a long distance call from Mandy asking if I was available for her wedding, and fate would have me photograph this fairytale. I hope to visit you both the next time we are in Toronto!
Oh and don’t forget to check back here for the blog post of their photobooth, coming soon!
Here are but a few of the amazing images from the day. To see more, and sit back and enjoy the story, watch the slideshow below :)
A big thanks to my awesome friend and fellow photographer Tracey Kiansky who helped me out and caught these great images of Billy getting ready :)
Yes – 2 pairs of shoes :):)
While I was doing some group shots, Tracey got some great portraits of the youngest wedding party members!
Michelle Z -Oh Melissa, your talent raises with each Wedding you shoot. Which is such a GREAT and STRONG skill to have as a Wedding Photographer. These photographs are so well done, and what a gorgeous couple. No wonder it was a dream Wedding. Everything looks so perfect!!!! xoAugust 31, 2010 – 2:26 am
Gavin and I feel so fortunate to have met Carrie and Tim, and also to have been a part of their amazing and unique wedding. Right from the initial consultation, they made it very clear that the most important thing to them was the people they love most, and they really wanted the day to be a celebration shared with their nearest and dearest. On the one day when you are allowed to be as selfish as you want, their priorities were the guests :) It definitely showed, as everyone was clearly having a great time, and the restaurant was filled with laughter and love and happy tears! Yup, there were some tear-jerker speeches, and not a dry eye in the place at some points! Their lunch reception at Sydney’s was outstanding, and although the ceremony was moved inside due to rain, it cleared up a few hours before sunset allowing us to meet up later and head out for some more pics!
Carrie and Tim your wedding was beautiful and I am sure a party that will not be forgotten!
Check out some of my favourite images below, and to see more and sit back and watch the story unfold, check out the slideshow below :)
Stepping out later to shoot the formals means better light, and opportunities you will never get on a regular wedding schedule! But also, we were racing the sunset. Which made things fun!
