Last week I got to photograph three fitness competitors! This was something new and different for me, even though they are still portrait sessions there are other elements to consider, making it a bit more of a challenge since I had never done one before!
My first subject was Marty, who also happens to be a firefighter, and so for our shoot we spent half of it in the studio and half at the Firefighters Museum. Marty is in the end-stages of preparing for a competition, so of course is in exceptional shape right now, and wanted some pics to document his results and remember the experience. Marty admitted he was a little nervous….well I was a little more than nervous since this was a genre I don’t have any experience in, although I knew a little something about it since my own father used to compete in bodybuilding as well. It was great fun experiementing with lighting for definition of different muscles, and I actually learned a lot from doing this session! So thankyou Marty, you were a fabulous subject and introduced me to something new!

Best of luck in the competition Marty!!!
